SkinPen™ with PRP Stimulates Natural Repair
Dr. Richard Moore, the medical director of The Lifestyle Center, is proud to offer the latest in state-of-the-art medical-grade microneedling: the SkinPen™ with PRP. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that regenerates skin by stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin. The SkinPen™ with PRP microneedling device, now available at our St. Louis medical spa, can be used to improve the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and skin texture, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. This skin treatment is only available through skin care professionals like the expertly trained staff at our clinic. To learn more, contact us today.
The technique of microneedling (sometimes called skin needling or collagen induction therapy) has been practiced for years worldwide. It works by “injuring” the skin just enough to initiate wound healing. Traditional microneedling is performed with a dermaroller, a device outfitted with hundreds of tiny, acupuncture-like needles rolled over the skin. The resulting micro-wounds trigger the body to produce new collagen and elastin and form new capillaries. The microscopic channels created by the microneedles also allow treatment products to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, resulting in improved product outcomes. Professional microneedling is considered one of the safest skin treatment procedures.
Superiority of SkinPen™ with PRP
SkinPen™ with PRP is a medical-grade, hand-held tool that goes beyond dermarollers to expand and improve microneedling. The safest, most effective vertical needling device, SkinPen™ with PRP uses sterile, disposable needle cartridges that deliver multi-speed and adjustable depths for individualized treatment across patients’ unique skin needs. The innovative design of the SkinPen™ greatly increases versatility so it can be used in places that dermarollers have difficulty reaching, especially around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Because SkinPen™ with PRP treatment is a non-thermal approach to skin rejuvenation, it can benefit patients of any skin type with no risk of fibrosis. The SkinPen™ with PRP is excellent for treating:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Sagging skin
SkinPen™ with PRP can be used on all parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. Its versatility makes it especially suited for addressing acne scars on the back and stretch marks on the body.
A SkinPen™ with PRP session is quick, simple, and generally comfortable. Many patients report little to no discomfort during and after the procedure. Your treatment will typically take 40 minutes, and will vary depending on the size of the area and the severity of the problem. A sterile, disposable cartridge is attached to the tip of the SkinPen™ with PRP, and the treatment depth is adjusted for your unique skin type. The pen is then gently glided across the treatment area.
There is no significant downtime associated with SkinPen™ with PRP. After treatment, skin will be pink, with mild to moderate swelling, much like mild sunburn. These effects typically subside in one to two days.
Most patients are advised to receive a series of three treatments spaced approximately four weeks apart. Additional sessions may be required for deep wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks.
You may notice healthier-looking skin immediately. However, by nature of the self-repair process induced by your treatment, improvement will be seen over the course of several weeks. Since dermal collagen remodeling occurs over time, it is not realistic to see damage that has progressed over an extensive period to disappear quickly. It may take up to three to six months to see the final result following your last session. We can help you develop a maintenance plan to help retain the healthy glow from your SkinPen™ with PRP treatment.
